Legendary actress, LisaRaye McCoy still can pull off sexy at the age of 52!
On Thursday (April 9th), LisaRaye McCoy spent her quarantine going back to her leading role in the 1998 classic film, The Player’s Club. In the clip, the actress reenacted her breakout role as the sexy, ambitious college student turned stripper Diamond, who takes the stage to R. Kelly’s 1993 hit, “Seems Like You’re Ready.” The former First Lady of Turks and Caicos adds the hashtag,
“#IStillGotIt”
The classic flick was Ice Cube’s directorial debut into the spotlight that has continued to be a fan favorite for decades. In addition to LisaRaye. McCoy, the classic black film also featured Monica Calhoun, Bernie Mac, Jamie Foxx, Faizon Love, Terrence Howard, and many others.
In a interview with TV One last year, LisaRaye opened up on how she landed the memorable role of Diamond. She says,
“I remember this one particular video that was huge. It was Tupac’s video ‘Toss It Up’ with Danny Boy and Aaron Hall [and K-ci and JoJo]. I said, ‘I am gon’ audition for this and I’m gon’ be very directable. They gon’ want me! So I went in there and I did my best little [sexy dance moves]. And the man said, ‘You got the part.’ I was like, ‘Yes! Really, I’m an actress, here’s my resumé.’ He looked back and he said, ‘You got this job as the actress and model in this video.’ Oh, okay. Not a problem. But that’s okay, because a couple of months after that, I get a call for an audition for Player’s Club.“
LisaRaye added,
“I just wanted to be in a movie. I came to Hollywood to be famous. I just wanted to make some money, and I knew that this was Ice Cube. So, when they told me that I was playing a stripper, I was okay wit’ it.”
