Prince Harry & Meghan Markle – Lifetime Orders 3rd Movie About Couple, Latest Project About Their ‘Uncoupling From The Crown’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s story is heading to Lifetime for the third time. The couple will be the subject of a forthcoming Lifetime film tentatively called Harry and Megan: Escaping The Palace, making it the third time the network has done a movie on the two.
The news comes just shortly after publishing company HarperCollins announced that it has obtained the world rights for a biography called Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family that is supposed to provide previously unknown details about the pair’s life together. It is unknown if the made-for-TV film will be based on this particular biography.
According to a statement from Lifetime, the network says that this new film will follow
“the couple’s conscious uncoupling from the crown after the birth of their son Archie.”
It seems that Archie’s first year of life and events surround it and the couple will be covered in this film as well as when Harry and Meghan made their official announcement to become financially independent and live on their own terms. The two prior Lifetime Harry and Meghan films, 2018’s “Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance” and 2019’s “Harry and Meghan: Becoming Royal,” were both hits on the network and the continuation of the Harry and Meghan franchise was pretty much inevitable.
Harry and Meghan’s announcement to step down from the senior royalty roles sent shock waves around the world. The two have been completely unconventional in just about every way and this announcement was no different:
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
In alignment with their plan to do things their own way, Harry and Meghan, who were married in 2018, have recently moved to California where they now live in Tyler Perry’s $18 million Tuscan-style mansion in Beverly Hills. The couple announced on Instagram in January their plan to “balance” their time between the UK and the USA:
It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.” – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
