Terry Crews Says ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Will Address Current Events: We Were Witnessing So Many Abuses Of Power
Actor Terry Crews says art will imitate life in the upcoming season of his NBC cop-comedy, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” The actor – who recently received backlash for his thoughts on white supremacy – revealed that the recent events of the time inspired script changes for the show. When asked if today’s events will impact the upcoming season, Terry Crews told Seth Myers:
“Definitely. We actually all got on a Zoom call just the other day because of what’s happening in this country. We were witnessing so many abuses of power.”
Terry continued:
“We had some somber talks and some really, really eye-opening conversation about how to handle this new season.”
The “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” cast even collectively donated $100K to the National Bail Fund, which serves to provide bail for protesters.
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” isn’t the only show that will address this modern civil rights movement. As previously reported, upcoming “Law & Order: SVU” episodes will cover the global health pandemic, COVID-19, and the death of George Floyd. Showrunner Warren Leight shared:
“There are ways, we will find our way in to tell the story. Presumably, our cops will still be trying to do the right thing but it’s going to be harder for them and they’re going to understand why it’s hard for them…We’re going to reflect New York in the pandemic. What happens to someone who is sexually assaulted during the height of the coronavirus outbreak.”
