Cynthia Erivo To Star In Musical Drama, ‘Talent Show’ Written By Lena Waithe
Cynthia Erivo, who was Oscar nominated for Best Actress (Harriet), is set to star in a new musical drama, ‘Talent Show,’ that has been written by Lena Waithe.
The drama, said to have a tone of Pitch Perfect meets 8 Mile, will reportedly surround Erivo’s character, a
“failed songwriter who returns home to Chicago to lead a group of at-risk youth in their annual talent show.”

The film, based on an idea from Duane Adler (Save the Last Dance, Step Up), was acquired by Universal in 2013, according to reports, with George Tillman Jr. attached to direct and his partner Bob Teitel to produce.
The Chi writer and creator, Lena Waithe wrote the most recent version of the script, with prior drafts by Aimee Lagos and Duane Adler.

The two power houses confirmed the news in their Instagram stories, sharing the same photo.

This isn’t the first time the two have been linked together. Rumors that they were romantically linked surrounded the pair earlier this year following the split between Lena Waithe and her then-wife, Alana Mayo, after just two months of marriage.

According to reports, Lena is allegedly dating “Harriet” actress Cynthia Erivo and they allegedly live together.
Lena and Cynthia have been photographed out and attended red carpet events together. In 2018, Cynthia posted a sweet message about her friendship to Lena writing:
I finally found my sis. Lena you are absolutely everything. You are perfection. What a meeting of minds, glad to have you in my life! Stuck like glue !!! SHINE QUEEN SHINE!!
