Beyonce Surprises Fans W/ ‘Already’ Video & Deluxe Edition of ‘The Lion King: The Gift’
Although the world knew that Beyonce‘s latest project, a visual album entitled “Black Is King” was set to drop today (July 31) on Disney Plus, most didn’t know both a video from the album as well as a deluxe version of “The Lion King: The Gift” would be released first! In true Beyonce fashion, she dropped a surprise video from the visual album called “Already.” The vibrant video features traditional and modern African fashions worn by Beyonce as well as tribal and current dances performed by the 24-time Grammy-winner.
“Already” is one of the songs featured on Bey’s soundtrack album “The Lion King: The Gift” that accompanied the 2019 live-action remake of the Disney classic, “The Lion King.” In the film, Beyonce‘s voice is featured as the voice of the adult Nala. Beyonce‘s deluxe edition boasts the remix to one of the songs on “The Gift” called “Find Your Way Back” and added one more track, “Black Parade,” which she released as a single on Juneteenth 2020.
Beyonce shared her inspiration behind “Black Is King”, which is currently a top trending topic on social media just hours after its release. She said about the project,
I worked with a diverse group of very gifted directors and actors and creatives from all over the world to re-imagine the story of ‘The Lion King.’ The narrative unfolds through music videos, fashion, dance, beautiful, natural settings, and raw new talent, but it all started in my backyard. So from my house to Johannesburg to Ghana to London to Belgium to the Grand Canyon, it was truly a journey to bring this film to life.

She also said that she wants her film to inspire people to reconsider their perception of what the word “black” represents and means:
My hope for this film is that it shifts the global perception of the word ‘black,’ which has always meant inspiration and love and strength and beauty to me. ‘Black Is King’ means black is regal and rich in history, in purpose, and in lineage. I hope y’all love it.
