Bobby Shmurda’s Parole Hearing Set For Later This Month
Update #2 (Aug. 5th): There is now more information about Bobby Shmurda’s (real name Ackquille Pollard) upcoming parole hearing and potential early release. The “Hot N***a” rapper celebrated his 26th birthday Tuesday (Aug. 4th) as reports swirled that he could be getting out of prison early.
According to new reports, his parole hearing is set for later this month. A Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) official told Complex,
“Mr. Pollard is currently scheduled to appear before the Board of Parole the week of August 17, 2020. The Board of Parole has two weeks from the date of the interview with the incarcerated individual to render a decision.”
They added that an exact date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
If things aren’t in his favor, he will be a free man in December 2021 at the latest.
Original Story: Rapper Bobby Shmurda has an upcoming parole hearing that could make him eligible for early release as early as December 2020.
The rapper has served 5 years and 7 months of his original 7 year sentence on weapons and conspiracy charges.
Reportedly, under the deal, Shmurda pled guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy — this carries a sentence of 1-3 years. He is also charged with 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, which carries a sentence of 7 years. The two will be allowed to run concurrently, meaning he will face a maximum of 7 years in prison. Under the terms of the deal, Shmurda will get credit for time served, which is nearly two years. This means he has five years remaining on his sentence.

His mother has been sending updates on the rapper while he’s been behind bars, in a recent post she said,
“My child is in such good spirits he is ready for these streets. We have 15 months and counting this is the 5th Birthday that I have spent on the visiting floor and thank God we only have 1 more to go. “He sends his LOVE and expresses his APPRECIATION for all of the SUPPORT he has received thus far. The wait is almost over!!!”
