Gabrielle Union & NBC Reach “Amicable Resolution” Over America’s Got Talent Discrimination Claims
Nearly a year after Gabrielle Union’s firing from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” a settlement has been reached between the two parties, according to reports.
Gabrielle Union’s prompt exit from the show sparked both curiosity and investigation into claims of a “toxic culture,” and diversity issues. On Nov. 22, Union’s team was notified that she would not be returning as a judge for the following season.

Following her departure, Gabrielle Union revealed alleged experiences that happened while on the set of AGT, citing Simon Cowell’s alleged illegal smoking and being told on several occasions that her hairstyles were “too black”.
Union filed a complaint with California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing after her departure and an investigation was launched but the probe found no derogatory remarks about Gabrielle Union’s appearance.
Still, a joint statement made Tuesday Sep. 29, by NBC and Union provides clarification on a resolution between both parties:
“We’ve reached an amicable resolution. NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect.”
