Columbus Short Claims Britney Spears’ Parents Called Him The N-Word After Their 2003 Fling
Columbus Short is standing by his claims that Britney Spears’ parents once called him the n-word. American actor Columbus Short released his autobiography called Short Stories in September of last year. In his book, he details a time in 2003 when he had a fling with Britney Spears during his days as a backup dancer for the pop star. Columbus Short claims that he once overheard Britney Spears in tears on the phone with her parents as they asked,
“Why are you f***ing that n****er?”
In a recent interview, Columbus Short touched on this alleged incident and shared how that moment made him feel. He said,
“I wasn’t shocked when it happened. Look where they’re from … they’re from Louisiana. The way it came out was so effortless, like that’s how they speak. I wasn’t shocked and I wasn’t hurt by it, I was just like, ‘Wow, this is … OK … I know who I am around here.’”
He continued and said,
“[just] because they have black bodyguards doesn’t mean behind closed doors they don’t use that word.”
The ‘Scandal’ actor also shared that he feels Britney might have been using him as a means to make her parents angry.
“After that I felt like maybe [Britney] was using me to piss them off for some reason. I think she is a really sweet person that was tormented in a position on a high level that I can’t imagine. I liken it to Princess Diana. She was the pop princess. Britney couldn’t go nowhere — her world [was] completely controlled in this bubble. There would be times that she would act out, and I don’t blame her. She was trying to find her way.”
He added,
“I love Britney to this day… I feel bad for her. I wish the world knew the Britney I knew.”
Columbus Short didn’t clarify in his autobiography or recent interview which one of Britney’s parents allegedly called him the n-word. However, Britney Spears’ mother told Page Six that she personally would never use such a hurtful term towards anyone.
“I want to be very clear. Those terrible words are not remotely in my vocabulary. I would never say that to anyone, much less my daughter. Ever.”
A source close to Britney’s father shared a statement with Page Six and also denied it was him. The insider said,
“Jamie was not there, and not involved. In fact, during this time period, Jamie was not involved in Britney’s business at all.”
