The family of rapper DMX (born Earl Simmons) is staying hopeful as he fights for his life.
They will be holding a prayer vigil outside of the hospital where he is receiving treatment after he suffered a reported overdose and subsequent heart attack over the weekend.
His family released a statement via email to The Associated Press, announcing that the Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundation is holding a vigil outside of White Plains Hospital at 5 p.m. EST Monday (April 5th).
In a separate statement on Sunday (April 4th), they said he still has “serious health issues”, adding:
“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMXand us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”
DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, has been keeping the public updated with his condition. He told NBC News Saturday (April 3rd) that DMX was put on life support after having to be resuscitated.
His manager, Nakia Walker, said the Who We Be rapper is in a “vegetative state.” She continued,
“We’re just praying.”
She also said he has “lung and brain failure and no brain activity.”
His ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, shared footage of fans playing music outside of the hospital Sunday (April 4th).
