Tiffany Haddish Addresses Rumors She’s Taking Ellen DeGeneres’ Spot: Ain’t Nobody Talk To Me About That

Update #2 (May 20th): Despite recent reports, Tiffany Haddish isn’t in talks to replace Ellen DeGeneres. The comedian and actress cleared the air while on The Breakfast Club and said,

I haven’t commented on it because ain’t nobody that give those jobs talk to me about it.”

She explained,

“The reason I’ve even been popping up guest-hosting Ellen is because she wanted some days off. I’m learning a new skill. That’s it. Y’all just watching me learn in front of everybody.”

She concluded,

“I don’t know if that’s grooming me to take over because ain’t nobody talk to me about that.”

Original Story (May 13th): Comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish is said to be in the running to replace Ellen DeGeneres in the coveted daytime talk show space. Ellen DeGeneres announced Wednesday [May 12th] that she will be officially ending her show in 2022, after 19 seasons.

The show has been unable to recover since the allegations of workplace toxicity surfaced, and it’s been reported the show has seen a significant decline in sponsorships and ratings. Ellen DeGeneres will be ending her contract at the end of the 2022 19th season.

Page Six revealed in February, DeGeneres owns the rights to her show, which is syndicated and produced by Warner Bros. so it’s impossible to replace her without launching a fresh format with a new host.

While Ellen was on hiatus from her show, Tiffany Haddish filled in for her on a number of occasions. This is what a senior NBCUniversal source told Page Six:

“Tiffany is a favorite, she has humor and empathy in spades. She’s top of the list to get a daytime show-she’s a fresh voice.”

Tiffany Haddish‘s wit, comedic timing, and hosting abilities make her a prime candidate for a daytime talk show host position. She’s been honing the craft of hosting on the CBS show ‘Kids Say The Darndest Things.’ The new season premiered on May 5th at 8 pm.

It has been reported that singer Kelly Clarkson, who also has a show that airs in most markets after DeGeneres, is a favorite to grab her 3 pm time slot.

In January, “The Kelly Clarkson Show” hit a season-high, and matched DeGeneres‘ number for the first time.
