Nicki Minaj Opens Up About The Loss Of Her Father In Heartfelt Message To Fans
Rapper Nicki Minaj lost her father February 12th in a fatal hit-and-run car crash in Mineola, New York. Charles Polevich[70] was accused of striking Nicki Minaj’s dad, Robert Maraj [64] in Long Island, and driving away without calling 911. Robert Maraj passed away at the hospital a day later.
Charles Polevich was apprehended on Feb. 17th and charged with leaving the scene of an incident and tampering with physical evidence. He was freed on bail and ordered to remain in the state of New York after pleading not guilty.
Since Robert Maraj’s untimely passing, Carol Maraj [Nicki Minaj’s mother] filed a lawsuit in Nassau County state Supreme Court claiming Charles Polevich was negligent, reckless and careless at the time he hit Robert Maraj with his vehicle and left him for dead at the scene.
Attorney Benjamin Crump, one of the lawyers representing Carol Maraj, made the following statement:
“He was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned with running away and hiding than seeking help.”
Since the tragic incident, Nicki Minaj had not made any public statements about her father’s death.
Nicki Minaj recently penned a heartfelt message to fans on her official website. In the heartfelt post, she opened up about the loss of her dad.
“I can’t really ring myself to discuss the passing of my father as of yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life. I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed.”
