Kehlani Says Her Child’s Father Was Supportive When She Came Out As A Lesbian: We Just Focus On Being A Team
Kehlani has recently opened up about the supportive dynamics between her and her child’s father, Javaughn Young-White.
As previously reported, Kehlani came out as a lesbian earlier this year. Shortly after making her initial announcement, the singer shared how her family reacted to the news, humorously and supportively saying “we know, duh.”

Now, Kehlani is sharing how her daughter’s father–Javaughn Young-White–reacted to her coming out.

While speaking on her new Facebook Watch special, Pride On! Kehlani & Larray’s Excellent Pride Ride, Kehlani stated:
“I have a two-year-old daughter…She’s the best. Me and her dad are like really, really close friends, and the decision to start a family was really easy for us because we both believed in each other’s ability to be good parents. We just focus on being a team, honestly, and when I was able to tell him, like, I’ve come to newer terms with my sexuality and he’s super super super supportive.”
The singer-songwriter also stated that the co-parents also attempt to normalize non-heterosexual relationships, saying:
“Like usually where people would bring up ‘mom and dad,’ we also say ‘mom and mom’ and ‘dad and dad.'”
For context, Javaughn Young-White identifies as bisexual, and the pair welcomed their daughter–Adeya–back in early 2019. While they haven’t been romantically together since 2018, it looks like Kehlani and Javaughn still share a supportive bond.
