Keri Hilson Responds To Fan Who Criticized Her For Saying She Wants Her Soulmate To Be Black: It’s My Experience & Preference
Keri Hilson recently had to let a fan know that she said what she said as she defended her dating preference. On June 22 singer/actress Keri Hilson, 38, took to her Twitter account and shared in a series of tweets that she hopes her soulmate is a black man. In her first post, she wrote,
“I want who God wants for me, but am I wrong for hoping my soulmate is a black man? He don’t even have to be American, I’ve dated 3 non-American black men. But I want to love a black man. Or a man of color…”
She continued,
“And if he’s neither, he’d have to have a deep understanding & genuine support of my pro-blackness.”
The ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ singer finished off her remarks and added,
“Anybody feel me?”
It seems that not everybody agreed with what Keri Hilson had to say. A fan responded to her remarks and wrote,
“Dating just one color doesn’t guarantee happiness. If anything it limits it. Also, it’s just plain discriminatory.”
The songstress responded to the fan’s comment and wrote,
“Well, it’s my experience and preference. It’s who I attract & feel attracted to for whatever reasons. Is that something I can control? No. Nobody says sh*t when white men say ‘I only date redheads, or blondes,’ or when a man says ‘I prefer younger women.’ It’s called a preference.”
She added,
“But when it’s about race it’s all of a sudden alarming. Or better yet, when black people show their love for one another…I mean, is it forbidden?”

In addition to her tweets, Keri Hilson shared a selfie to her Instagram account rocking a black tee-shirt that says,
“my soulmate is Black.”
She captioned the image,
“I said what I said…link in bio”
She seemingly created the shirt based on her tweets and is now selling it on her website for people to buy. The shirt is currently priced at $9.99
