DMX Reportedly Died Of A Cocaine-Induced Heart Attack
It’s been three months since DMX’s untimely passing, and his official cause of death has been revealed.
The rapper (born Earl Simmons) tragically died of a cocaine-induced heart attack, which reduced the blood circulation that went to his brain, an insider from the Westchester County medical examiner’s office confirmed to Vulture.
They added,
“It was cardiac arrest for a period of time, so there was no circulation to the brain.”
The source explained that acute cocaine intoxication “caused this chain of events.”
His urine also showed that there was cocaine in his system.
However, an autopsy wasn’t conducted because medical professionals and the police said he had a drug overdose and a heart attack. But at the time, the details were still not consistent.
The insider added that someone called police for help at 10:03 p.m. on April 2. Paramedics were contacted a minute later and got to the scene at 10:09 p.m. They attempted to revive DMX at 10:10 p.m.
They also noted DMX got to the hospital roughly 30-40 minutes after paramedics arrived to the scene. While his heart was revived, he was brain dead.
The insider said,
“His death literally happened immediately because the brain was dead. So obviously, there were a number of days where he was on ventilatory support and so forth in the hospital. However, he was diagnosed brain-dead early on … He never woke up from [a] coma.”
DMX passed away at White Plains Hospital on April 9th.
Continued prayers for DMX’s loved ones.
