Madonna Calls For Britney Spears To Be Released From Her Conservatorship: Slavery Was Abolished So Long Ago!
Madonna is the latest celebrity to speak up for fellow singer Britney Spears as details of her conservatorship are made public.
As previously reported, Britney Spears asked a judge to remove her father from the conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008. She said during a hearing last month that she was held to inhumane standards, including being barred from getting pregnant. She said she has an IUD because “They don’t want me to have… any more children”:
“I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself so I don’t get pregnant. They don’t want me to have children–any more children. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life! I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break and do what I want to do.”
Still, a judge denied her request roughly a week later. The decision was said to be unrelated to her compelling hearing since she hadn’t officially filed to end her conservatorship.
Meanwhile, Madonna, who collaborated with Britney Spears on Me Against The Music in 2003, has come to Britney’s defense.
She shared a throwback photo of her wearing a Britney Spears shirt on her Instagram stories last night (July 8th). She wrote,
“Give this woman her life back”
She compared Britney’s situation to slavery and added,
“Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries”
She continued,
“This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to Get you out of jail!”
