Britney Spears Officially Files To Remove Her Father From Conservatorship, Seeks To Have Him Replaced By A CPA
Britney Spears recently made a huge move in her conservatorship case.
Yesterday (Monday, July 26th), Britney Spears‘ new attorney–Matthew Rosengart–filed some important paperwork on her behalf. The lawyer officially requested that Jamie Spears—Britney Spears‘ father–be removed from the pop star’s conservatorship. Matthew Rosengart told various outlets:
“Less than two weeks go, we pledged that after 13 years of the status quo, my firm and I would move aggressively and expeditiously to file a petition to suspect and remove James P. Spears. It is now a matter of public record, and I announced to Judge Penny this afternoon that we have done so, in less than two weeks. We look forward to litigating the matter in court.”
As previously reported, Britney Spears has claimed her father exerted control and abuse throughout her 13-year-long conservatorship. Now, however, she’s making the move to officially distance herself from Jamie Spears by having him removed from the matter!
Additionally, Britney Spears is requesting that a certified public accountant (CPA) take over Jamie Spears‘ role as the conservator of her estate. Britney Spears reportedly handpicked the CPA, Jason Rubin, after she was granted the right to retain her own legal counsel.
Amid this move, Matthew Rosengart also claimed he intends to end Britney Spears’ conservatorship as soon as possible. However, he sought to prioritize getting Jamie Spears removed first.
The court hearing will take place on September 29th.
