Olympic Track Star Allyson Felix Wants Fans To ‘Rally Around’ Sha’Carri Richardson: Give Her The Support She Needs

Olympic track star, Allyson Felix, showed love and support for the record-breaking Sha’Carri Richardson. The 35-year-old Olympic track-and-field star discussed how Sha’Carri Richardson brought more attention to the sport. She said,

“Obviously she has a great personality and she’s brought a lot of   attention to the sport and I think she’ll be in the sport for a very long time.”

Allyson Felix also empathized with Sha’Carri Richardson considering everything she’s gone through. From her mother passing the day before a race to being suspended from the Olympics for marijuana use, Richardson has publicly endured a lot of criticism.

“I know that she’s obviously been through so much and I hope that she’s just supported. I hope people rally around her. I think just more than anything, for all athletes, there’s so much that goes into it. Just give her the support that she needs.”

The Olympian is just one of the many people still rooting for Richardson’s success. After coming in 9th place for the Prefontaine Classic 100 meter race, many took to Twitter to give their opinions on it including Richardson herself. She stayed positive and tweeted,

“Only way from 9th is up! [praying hands Emojis]

Still, there were also critics who said she should be more humble. One tweet came from Emmanuel Acho, former linebacker and host of Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man.

Another Twitter critic chimed in with an attempt to humble the sprinter.

But with the numerous hate comments, came positive and affirming ones as well.

What do you think about Felix’s support of Richardson? Let us know in the comments.
