‘The Talk’ Announces Akbar Gbajabiamila As Second Male Co-Host To Join The Show
The Talk is getting another new face. America Ninja Warrior co-host, Akbar Gbajabiamila, will join as the second male co-host on the CBS show. Jerry O’connell joined permanently in July as the first male co-host in the show’s history.
Akbar Gbajabiamila put out a statement expressing his excitement for the new co-hosting job.
“I am so excited for this new generation of such a long-standing establishment. To be a part of this diverse group, is truly a dream and a new statement for The Talk. In a world as divided as ours, I look forward to showing up as my fun and authentic self everyday and advocating for conversation over confrontation.”
The 42-year-old also took to Instagram to show his gratitude for the opportunity.
The announcement comes in the same week former Teen Vogue editor, Elaine Welteroth, announces her departure from the show after only one season.
The talkshow has had 3 co-hosts in the past year leave, including the controversial Sharon Osbourne and just weeks ago Carrie Ann Inaba.
Even though The Talk appears to have a high turnover rate, Akbar Gbajabiamila is optimistic about the job and so are the show’s executive producers. Showrunner and executive producer,Heather Grey, had kind words to say about the former NFL Football player. Reportedly she said,
“It’s a new day in daytime for season 12 of The Talk and we are thrilled to welcome Akbar to the family. His engaging personality, openness and quick wit really impressed us when he appeared as a guest co-host last season.”
