Whitney Houston’s Debut Film ‘The Bodyguard’ Gets Reboot Green-Light From Warner Bros. + Lizzo Jokes About Staring In Movie With Chris Evans
A reboot of the 1992 film ‘The Bodyguard’ is officially in the works at Warner Bros. The original film is a romantic thriller about a former United States Secret Service agent turned bodyguard who is hired to protect a famous entertainer from an unknown stalker. The movie was the acting debut of the late Whitney Houston, who portrayed the film’s main character, Rachel Marron. The movie also stars actors Kevin Costner, 66, Gary Kemp, 61, and Bill Cobbs, 87. The film reportedly made $411 million worldwide.
According to reports, the remake will be written by Tony-nominated playwright Matthew López. Lawrence Kasdan of Kasdan Pictures, as well as Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback, will serve as producers for the project. The cast for the film has yet to be revealed.
It seems safe to say that singer Lizzo, 33, is excited about ‘The Bodyguard’ being rebooted. After news broke about the upcoming remake, Lizzo joked in a TikTok video that she and actor Chris Evans, 40, should star in the film together. The short video starts with the ‘Rumors’ singer showing a tweet announcing the remake as she mouths along to a voiceover angrily asking,
“What are we talking about?”
She then shows a picture of a fan’s tweet suggesting that she and Chris Evans should star in the reboot as she mouths again, in a more seductive way,
“What are we talking about?”
