Idris Elba fans are trying to come to grips with the fact that his Sonic the Hedgehog 2 character’s voice will not be “sexy.”
While recently answering questions about an upcoming voice-over role, English heartthrob Idris Elba made a revelation that many are unable to fathom. Specifically, the 49-year-old actor addressed a question about how his usual on-screen characters–typically highly alluring men–would play into his upcoming Knuckles the Echidna role. While Idris Elba contractually couldn’t reveal too much about his character or the film, he made one revelation that caught the attention of many. Idris stated:
“Honestly, I cannot say. Contractually, I cannot say anything. But I wouldn’t say [my character] was sexy. I don’t think I’m going for that. That’s for sure.”

Idris Elba was first confirmed to voice Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in August. The actor made the revelation by uploading a photo of the character’s balled-up fist to Twitter.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will premiere in theatres on April 8th, 2022.
