Legendary Actress & Comedian Betty White Dies At The Age of 99, Weeks Before Her 100th Birthday
Beloved actress, comedian and American icon Betty White has died at the age of 99, just weeks before a milestone 100th birthday. According to law enforcement, Betty White passed away at her home Friday (Dec.31) morning. Sadly, the legendary comedian was set to celebrate her 100th birthday just a few weeks from now on January 17.
Prior to her death, Betty had the longest running career for any woman in TV history, starring in multiple shows over the past 8 decades, starting back in 1939. Her most popular role was when she played Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls” which ran from 1985 to 1992, and is still loved by many today.
Betty’s breakout role came in 1973 when she was picked for the role of Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”. The role gave Betty White her first and second prime-time Emmy award. She was awarded with a third win when she was cast on NBC’s “The Golden Girls” in 1985.
In later years, Betty White made sure to stay relevant by guest starring on several TV Shows and movies such as, “30 Rock, “Boston Legal”, “The Simpsons”, “The Bold and The Beautiful”, and “The Proposal”. She even hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2010 at the age of 88, making her the oldest person to ever host the show. Her SNL performance was so well received, that she was awarded her seventh Emmy from the gig.
Betty White was an American Icon and will truly be missed. RIP!
