Britney Spears Is Pregnant, Singer Shares Previous Struggles With Depression & Says She Plans to Heavily Avoid Paparazzi

The pop singer-songwriter announced on Instagram on Monday, April 11, that she’s expecting a baby with her actor fiancé Sam Asghari, saying she will be avoiding public outings and paparazzi as much as possible. She also shared that she battled perinatal depression during a previous pregnancy.

In her caption, Britney Spears said,

“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach ???” My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly !!!” So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby … 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant / It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just loose it … I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have … it’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible … women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret … This time I will be doing yoga every day !!! Spreading lots of joy and love !!!”

Britney Spears‘ pregnancy news comes five months after she was released from a 13-year conservatorship controlled by her father Jamie Spears. As a result of the ending, the singer successfully regained control of her personal life and finances for the first time since 2008.

Spears and Sam Asghari, who is 12 years her junior, got engaged in September 2021. The two started dating in 2016 after meeting on the set of the “Slumber Party” music video. In the hours following the engagement, news began to spread that a prenuptial agreement was already in the works to protect Spears‘ assets and $60 million net worth.

The singer is already a mother to two boys, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, both of whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
