Atlanta Rapper Ca$h Out Reportedly Indicted On Rape And Sex Trafficking Charges
Atlanta rapper Ca$h Out is allegedly facing charges of rape and sex trafficking.
According to a report, the rapper, born John Michael Hakeem Gibson, was named as the ringleader of an organization accused of trapping women into prostitution. He is one of six people named in a 41-count indictment.
“The most troubling aspect of this case is that women have been victimized and brutalized within our community by people who had a chance to do something else with their lives,” said Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
Fulton County Deputy District Attorney Earnell Winfrey said that two women have been rescued so far, adding:
“Some of these women are our most vulnerable women and he lured them in, let them believe that he cared about them and that he would take care of them, only to flip the script and then began to pimp them out.”
The indictment accuses Ca$h Out of using a home and a hotel in Atlanta for the purpose of prostitution. It also says that at one point, he allegedly whipped one of the women he’s accused of recruiting with a belt.
Ca$h Out previously entered a plea of not guilty, but now, there are new charges against him, including racketeering. He is currently in jail and could face 25 years to life, if found guilty.
After the news of the charges surfaced, a message appeared on his Instagram page calling for his release.
Ca$h Out broke into the music scene in 2012 with his song “Cashin’ Out,” which rose to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart. He also released popular songs like “She Twerking” and “Back Door” with Young Dolph, but he failed to replicate the success of “Cashin’ Out.”
