Jacqueline Avant’s Killer Will Spend Life Behind Bars, Sentenced To Three Life Terms With 150 Years Minimum

A verdict has been passed in the shooting death of Jacqueline Avant

The man who plead guilty to killing the wife of musical icon Clarence Avant, has been sentenced to serve life in prison. Aariel Maynor, 30, entered a guilty plea in March of this year after confessing to murdering Jacqueline Avant, 81. According to reports, prosecutors pushed the courts to hit Aariel Maynor with a harsh sentencing. They claimed that jail phone calls revealed Aariel bragging about pulling the trigger, and undermining the outcome of his sentence.

It seems that courts agreed a lengthy sentence should be dealt, as Aariel is set to spend the rest of his days behind bars. Reports state the former felon received three life terms in prison with a minimum of 150 years served.

Jacqueline Avant was murdered inside her Beverly Hills home in December of last year. Her husband, music mogul Clarence Avant, 91, was reportedly sleep at the time of the break-in. According to police reports, Aariel dodged the home’s security guard by entering through a side door. The security guard stated he was unarmed when the then suspect fired shots at him before fleeing the scene. Reportedly, shooting at an unarmed civilian was another reason for the hefty prison sentence. Police arrested Aariel later that evening. reportedly on the scene of another burglary attempt.

Clarence and Jaqueline Avant were widely known for their joint and individual philanthropic efforts. Clarence, who is considered by many to be the “Godfather Of Black Music”, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2021. He’s an icon in the music industry, and has worked with many big named artists such as Jay Z, Diddy, Babyface, and Louis Armstrong. His life’s accomplishments were documented in the 2019 Netflix documentary “The Black Godfather”.
