Azealia Banks Teases Collab With Doechii, Later Slams Her: I Don’t Know Who The F**k She Is
Are you here for Azealia Banks and Doechii on a track together? Well, it looks like that doesn’t plan on happening.
Through recent connection via Instagram direct message, rappers Azealia Banks and Doechii decided they were going to put together a fire track for fans that would put both of them on the map. 22-year-old Doechii, born Jaylah Hickmon, is a Tampa native musical artist who started out on YouTube making a variety of content including music and vlogs. Her 2020 single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” went viral on TikTok, sparking the rise of Doechii.
Not everyone is here for the fresh new artist on the scene. Fellow artist Azealia Banks has a history of taking part in famous feuds, scuffling online with her fellow musicians. The 30-year-old Harlem native began by releasing music through Myspace in 2008, signing to “XL Recordings” at just the age of 18. Banks stepped into the music industry in 2011 when her debut single “212” went viral and entered several international charts.
After teasing a collaboration with Doechii less than 24 hours ago, Banks has sounded off via her IG stories toward the rapper, her team TDE and other fellow artists. The now-scrapped collaboration comes after Doechii asked Banks to join her on the remix of her single, “Crazy.” During the exchange between the two via DM, Doechii wrote,
“I’d love you on my remix for my single Crazy if you’d be open to the collab!”
Banks replied,
“Let’s do it. Send me the track w/ open space.”
Doechii shared a photo of the exchange online and captioned the post that read,
“Guess who.”
Banks backed up the indie artist with a post of her own via IG story confirming the announcement. She mentioned that she’s ready to make things official, but her manager is waiting to hear back from Doechii’s team before she can proceed.
Shortly after the post was made, Banks revealed the collaboration will no longer be happening. In a follow up post, she said,
“Sike. Lol.”
From there, Banks began to trash talk Doechii, record label “Top Dawg Entertainment” and artist Rico Nasty. Seemingly recording in the dark, she declared,
“TDE is going out f*cking sad.”
She continued,
“What the f*ck is even happening with TDE?”
Banks then fired off to her almost-music collaborator,
“You have this f*cking Doechii chick, who I have no f*cking clue who she is.”
She eventually brought up Rico Nasty, who allegedly replaced Banks on the joint track.
“I don’t know what the f*ck is going on with Rico Nasty but someone’s got to intervene and reel her back in.”
Y’all can kiss the “Crazy” remix goodbye. 6 hours after teasing the collab Azealia is already talking sh*t about Doechii, the rest of TDE, and Rico Nasty. https://t.co/l9SeqMsKGL pic.twitter.com/IeQ5G0i8Ff

In an attempt to set things straight, Doechii interacted with fans via Twitter answering questions about the controversial collaboration. According to the “Crazy” artist, her team had no idea she reached out to Banks, but were excited for her upon finding out she responded. She also added that she’s unsure of the issue surrounding the collaboration. Banks has since responded to Doechii’s claims with a repost via her IG stories captioned with a laughing emoji.
