NBA Star Kyrie Irving Calls The Media “Puppet Masters” In A String Of Critical Tweets
Kyrie Irving has been the subject of much debate and controversy throughout the Brooklyn Nets’ eventful season; and it looks like he just gave naysayers something else to talk about!
While Kyrie Irving has never been a fan of the media, the 30-year-old NBA player seemed particularly annoyed on Thursday (Apr. 28) as he took to Twitter to vent. Kyrie shared a series of tweets expressing his views on media companies and what he feels are their true intentions. He even referred to the media as “puppet masters” and those documented by the media as “puppets.” He first wrote,
“When I see my name or my brothers/sisters names getting spun through the media, I refer to all my research about who they are. Their job is to CONTROL PUBLIC PERCEPTION, all while profiting off discussing, discrediting, and disrespecting people’s lives for entertainment.”

The former All-Star then shared a follow up message:
“I send shots at the puppet masters, not the puppets. All puppets do is run around society, trying to gain popularity and state opinions. What a life! My name is worth billions to these media corporations. My brothers and sisters who deal with this know exactly what I mean.”

This message comes just three days after the Brooklyn Nets’ season-ending loss on Monday (Apr.25) to the Boston Celtics. This loss immediately rules the Nets out of the NBA playoffs. With a season filled with chaos and many losses, Kyrie remained humbled and optimistic about the future.

Nearly one month ago, Kyrie Irving made his home game debut in the 75th game of the season. The Brooklyn Nets player allegedly did not get the coronavirus vaccine and was barred from playing in home games because of local protocols mandating that professional sports players be vaccinated. However, that changed on March 24 when New York City Mayor Eric Adams reversed the Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
