Alicia Keys Hilariously Shares How Swizz Beatz Was Late To Their First Date: I Was Like, See I Knew He Was This Dude!

Looks like superstar singer Alicia Keys almost prematurely kicked her hubby Swizz Beatz to the curb.

While interviewing with the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, the R&B songstress shared the intriguing details of her first date with her hit-making husband. According to Grammy award winning artist Alicia Keys, 41, the adorable romance with her partner of 11 years, began with Verzuz co-creator Swizz Beatz, 43, arriving late to their first hang out.

The singer shared details of the crescendo moment, expressing how frustrated the beginning of the date was stating:

“We connect for lunch and we get there and I only have like 45 minutes, I didn’t have a lot of time….I get there, and guess who’s not there,”

As the “Falling” arist continues, the shows hosts taunt Swizz Beatz for almost fumbling his chance with Alicia who, while single, was arguably one of the most highly regarded bachelorette’s in the industry. Alicia continues the conversation, explaining the subsequent events of Swizz leaving her waiting. She continued:

“So I’m like you see…I knew he was this dude. I don’t even know why I”m here, I don’t even know why I’m sitting here.” 

Then continues:

“He come’s in and he says he apologizes for being late, I’m already funky….So he hands me a bag with some Louis Vuitton Millionaires in it….I didn’t like that sh*t.”

Alicia claims she was highly unimpressed by the gift, since the cost of it was her time in waiting. However, an interesting painter featured on the front of the Louis Vuitton bag sparked her interest. She stated:

“What I did notice was on the bag there was this beautiful artist….It ended up being an artist name Areté. So I asked him ‘who is that artist’ and he was like ‘Oh you don’t know Areté’, so that was the first moment where I started to understand that he was more than what met the eye.”

At this point in the story it’ seems as though Swizz presumably intrigued his date enough to possibly recover from his unpunctual arrival. What the musician pulled out next, however, is what seemingly had Alicia invested by the date’s end. The singer stated:

“So you know overtime my icy demeanor started to relax….He was cool he was nice….At the end of it….we go downstairs and I’m walking to my car and there’s this big huge thing on top of my car and as I get closer I realize it’s this painting.”

She continued:

“It’s a painting with the piano keys and on top of the keys is a paintbrush. And it’s wrapped in purple which is my favorite color and he said ‘This is the reason I was late, I was trying to bring you a gift and I couldn’t get on top of the car so it could be good when you got there’….At that point I was like alright I guess he’s cool…I guess he’s alright.”
