EXCLUSIVE: Omarion Verzuz Mario Battle In the Works!
Singer-songwriter Omarion is ready to step into the Verzuz battle ring, with another hit R&B singer.
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports that R&B singer Omarion, born Omari Grandberry, will be facing off against fellow R&B singer Mario, born Mario Dewar Barrett.
The battle is set to take place in Los Angeles later this month. Reportedly, other artists will also be performing during the Verzuz.
Verzuz is a music based webcast series created by record producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, that airs on Verzuz TV Instagram. The series was introduced during the Coronavirus pandemic as social media users were able to tune into artists performing hit for hit against fellow artists in their genre from the comfort of their homes.
Omarion, 37, is best known as the lead singer of the R&B boy band “B2K.” The group reached much success in the early 2000s marking at least three singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
After the group’s split in 2004, Omarion went on to release his debut album “O” in 2005, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.
Mario, is a singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and model. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, he signed a record deal with J Records at the age of fourteen, and recorded his eponymous debut album released in 2002. It includes the top 10 single, “Just a Friend 2002”.
His second album Turning Point, was released in 2004, and produced the number one single “Let Me Love You”, which won him two Billboard Music Awards.
His third studio album Go was released in December 2007, and included the singles “How Do I Breathe”, “Crying Out for Me” and “Music for Love”. His fourth studio album D.N.A. was released in 2009, and included the singles “Break Up” (featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett) and “Thinkin’ About You”.
