“If you’re gay or transgender, I love you. And if anyone gives you any s**t, tell em Charles says f**k you!”

Video footage of the moment shows Barkley being met with applause after the short speech. However this isn’t the first instance of the hoop star publicly supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Back in 2020, the legendary athlete spoke about being an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Speaking on North Carolina’s controversial bathroom bill, which made it illegal for transgender people to use public restrooms according to their gender identity, he stated:
“I hated the ‘bathroom bill….So I went to my boss and said, ‘Hey boss, I’m gonna sit out of the All-Star Game,”
He continued:
“‘I don’t want to to take away from the All-Star Game, but I’m gonna sit out the All-Star Game.'”

Charles Barkley
“I’d rather have a gay guy who can play than a straight guy who can’t play.”
Barley has not made any public comments about the video since going viral.
