Kevin Gates Explains Lyrics About Estranged Wife Dreka Gates Allegedly Cheating W/ Her Fitness Trainer [VIDEO]

Kevin Gates recently had a candid conversation about the status of his relationship with his estranged wife Dreka Gates.

In a new episode of REVOLT TV podcast “Caresha Please,” rapper/entrepreneur Kevin Gates touched on mental health, sexual energy, his Muslim faith, the truth about his relationship with Dreka Gates, and more!

In June, speculation began circulating that his wife of seven years cheated on him after the 36-year-old rap star dropped off his “Super Gremlin (Freestyle).” The track “Super General,” which is a freestyle over Kodak Black’s hit song “Super Gremlin,” seemingly revealed that the two are done.

During his freestyle, Kevin Gates claimed that he made himself look bad to the media on purpose so that he could protect Dreka Gates’ persona in the public. He rapped over the beat:

“Took the blame in interviews and made it look like I was trippin’/ Made the ‘Dreka’ song, lied to the world while trying to protect her image.”

At one point in the over five-and-a-half-minute single, Kevin vaguely mentioned a personal trainer that had fans speculating that’s who Dreka, 35, cheated on him with. Kevin rapped:

“Personal trainer invaded my personal space / Deep down inside it killed me.”

During the sit-down on “Caresha Please,” show host Yung Miami asked Kevin if he’s currently in a relationship with Dreka. The Baton Rouge rapper clarified that the pair are best friends no matter what. He said:

“A lot of people like to take it and be like, ‘well ‘cause the Super Gremlin song.’ When the Super Gremlin came out I never accused her of cheating on me in that song. If you listen at the time I never said she cheated on me one time.”

When Yung Miami, 28, asked the artist about lying to protect Dreka’s image, Kevin responded with:

“As a protector, if you for me, anything that look f*cked up ima take the lick for. Ima shield you from any type of ridicule anything that can go on in life. That’s what ima do ‘cause ima protector.”

The father-of-two seemingly didn’t want to reveal what he was protecting from the world and simply referred to the line as venting. When Kevin was asked about Dreka allegedly cheating with her personal trainer, he immediately shut down the claims. He shared:

“I never said that.” 

The rapper continued:

“…I never said they cheated. I never accused them of anything.”

Kevin clarified that if his estranged wife did step out on their relationship, he wouldn’t know. He added:

“…but I never said that in a song. I never said those things.”
