Usher Set To Executive Produce New Orleans Based Jazz Series ‘Storyville’, The Story Of Brothel Madams Of The Red Light District
R&B superstar Usher is putting on his producer hat for a new TV project.
According to reports, the 43-year-old singer recently announced a partnership with Starlings Television to develop an upcoming series about the birth of Jazz music. The project, named Storyville, will reportedly cover the lives of 5 brothel madams fighting for ultimate power in the infamous New Orleans red light district.
Sharing his excitement for the coming production, Usher – born Usher Raymond IV, stated:
“’Storyville’ is an epic tale sparked by the origins of the sound that inspired my career – a story that touches the nerve of social and cultural relevance today.”
Reportedly, Starlings TV President/EP Chris Philip and CEO Karine Martin will also executive produce the series. Chris Phillip also shared in the excitement for the Jazz drama, stating:
“Usher’s massive global appeal, musical and acting genius will propel this unique and compelling original series into must-see viewing worldwide,”

He continued:
His invaluable creative and musical contributions to Storyville fulfill our vision of contrasting the gritty, sometimes brutal sides of New Orleans life with it giving birth to a beautiful, diverse and defining new artform.”
As far as TV credential’s go, Usher has appeared in a number of popular shows since the 90’s, often portraying himself on hit series such as Moesha and 7th Heaven.
More recently, the “My Boo” artist joined fellow musicians Shakira, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton as a judge on the NBC singing competition The Voice.
Usher also reminded everyone that when it comes to vocals, he’s certainly still got it. The singing sensation sent the internet in a frenzy over his NPR Tiny Desk concert that has been view over 8.6million times.
At this time there is no expected release date for upcoming series.
