Chris Rock Jokes That He Was Slapped By ‘Suge Smith’ Following Will Smith’s Latest Apology: Anyone Who Says Words Hurt Has Never Been Punched In The Face
Chris Rock might need a little more time before accepting Will Smith’s latest apology.
As you probably already know, during this year’s Academy Awards ceremony Will Smith, 53, made headlines after slapping Chris Rock, 57, for a controversial joke the comedian made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, 50. The “Fresh Prince” star recently issued another public apology for his actions. In part, he said,
“I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk. And when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable. and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”
Despite not being ready to hash things out with Will Smith, it seems Chris Rock did at least see the emotional apology video. According to reports, On Friday (July 29) – hours after Will issued his apology video – Chris Rock addressed the slapping incident during a comedy performance he gave in Atlanta. The “Grown Ups” actor said,
“everybody is trying to be a f***ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims.”
He continued and said that “getting smacked by Suge Smith” was something he had to process very quickly.
“’I went to work the next day, I got kids.”
He added,
“’Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”

This isn’t the first time that Chris has aired out his feelings toward Will. He recently addressed the situation for the first time during a stand-up set in Holmdel, New Jersey. Chris reportedly told the crowd,
“I’m not a victim, motherf**ker. Yeah, that sh*t hurt, mother**ker. … But I shook that sh*t off and went to work the next day.”
Chris Rock is currently touring his new material as part of his Ego Death World Tour.
