‘Cosby’ Star Geoffrey Owens Praises His Son Jordyn For Making Acting Debut In Netflix’s ‘Uncoupled’: I’m Beyond Words Proud
Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
Many people know famed actor Geoffrey Owens from his time on “The Cosby Show.” The 61-year-old actor played Elvin Tibideaux on the family sitcom from 1985 until the series ended in 1992.

Now it seems like Geoffrey Owens’ son, Jordyn Owens, is following in his footsteps. The 23-year-old has officially made his acting debut in Netflix’s new series “Uncoupled” as the character Trey. “Uncoupled” stars popular actress Tisha Campbell, 53, and actor Neil Patrick Harris, 49.
While speaking about his son’s accomplishment, Geoffrey Owens said,
“I’m beyond words proud. I’m speechless.”
He also revealed that he and Jordyn Owens have “worked together a lot” on perfecting the young actor’s craft.
Geoffrey then touched on his son’s talents and said,
“I’ve observed it over the years. I’ve been observing it for the last five or six years.”

It’s good to see Jordyn continuing his dad’s legacy. As previously reported, Geoffrey made headlines in 2018 after a fan spotted him working at a Trader Joe’s grocery store and posted an image of the encounter online. Geoffrey previously spoke on the situation and said,
“I felt really humiliated. From the time that I heard that the article might be done to the time it came out, I tried to envision the worse case scenario just to prepare myself and then it was just a little bit worse. If that was possible. They went out of their way to find the very worst picture of me, in the worst shirt and the worst posture. The words they used to describe me were so demeaning. It hurt.”
He continued and explained why he took the job at the grocery store.
“At the time that [The Cosby Show] was pulled, that did make a difference in our income. That was one of the elements that led to my getting to the place where I said to myself, ‘I have to do something’ and I was thinking, ‘What can I do?’ and the answer ended up being Trader Joe’s, which is actually a wonderful situation for me in many ways. But I got to the point, I just had to do something to support myself and my family.”

As you may already know, in 2014 multiple sexual assault allegations surfaced against Bill Cosby and in 2018 he was convicted of aggravated indecent assault. He was imprisoned until the conviction was overturned due to a technicality in June 2021.
