Willow Smith Says “It Didn’t Rock Me As Much As My Own Internal Demons” While Discussing Father Will Smith Infamously Slapping Chris Rock At This Year’s Oscars
Rockstar Willow Smith is opening up about her father’s visceral awards show moment.
During a recent promo interview for her forthcoming album Coping Mechanism, the 21-year-old entertainer showed unconditional love and support for her movie star father. Much like the rest of the immediate Smith family, which also includes brothers Jaden and Trey Smith as well as mother Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith has been mostly quiet about the March incident. If you recall, prior to receiving his first Academy award, Will Smith stunned viewers and award show attendees by physically slapping Chris Rock on stage.

Speaking on the incident, the “Meet Me At Our Spot” singer reportedly stated the moment “didn’t rock me as much as my own internal demons”, adding:
“I see my whole family as being human and I love and accept them for all their humanness….Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.”
