Missy Elliot is being recognized in a big way by the city she was raised in!
Missy Elliot has many accolades under her belt, but her hometown of Portsmouth, VA voted unanimously on Tuesday (August 9) to rename a portion of a street.

“Missy Elliot Boulevard” is set to replace a portion of McLean Street in Portsmouth’s Entertainment District.
Missy saw a Virginia reporter tweet the big news, and replied:
“I am forever GRATEFUL P-TOWN VA #757 LOVE ?”

The legendary producer and artist was born on July 1, 1971 in Portsmouth, VA. According to local reports, she still has family in the area.
