Chrissy Teigen Responds To Backlash She’s Received For Revealing She Had An Abortion, Not A Miscarriage: I’ve Already Seen You Do Your Worst

Chrissy Teigen revealed on Thursday (Sept. 15) that the miscarriage she had two years ago was actually an abortion.

As previously reported, In September 2020, Chrissy Teigen, 36, and husband John Legend, 43, revealed that they lost their son Jack at 20 weeks as a result of a pregnancy complication. At the time, they said it was a miscarriage.

However, the TV personality revealed that she’s since realized that her miscarriage was in fact an abortion. While speaking at a conference she explained,

“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention.”

She went on to discuss her miscarriage, before stopping herself and noting that it was technically an abortion. She said,

“Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”

Chrissy Teigen said she came to the realization after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this summer. She said she expressed to John Legend that she felt sympathy toward people who have an abortion and the circumstances they faced.

Teigen explained,

“I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way. I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn’t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.”

After facing backlash for sharing her latest realization, Chrissy Teigen addressed the trolls who didn’t like what she had to say. She tweeted some of the harsh comments she’s been receiving and said,

“I knew this would happen, and honestly I’ve already seen you do your worst so if this makes you feel better, great. It doesn’t make me feel worse though.”

Last month,  Chrissy Teigen announced that she and her Grammy-Award-winning husband John Legend are expecting again, nearly two years after the tragic loss of their son Jack. The ‘Lip Sync Battle‘ co-host took to social media to share the good news.

Her post said:

“The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.”

Chrissy Teigen also revealed her anxiety about the pregnancy in her post.

She continued:

“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”

The couple is already parents to Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, who were both conceived using in vitro fertilization (IVF), which was also used for this pregnancy.
