Saweetie Trends As Social Media Users Wonder If Rapper’s New Song ‘Don’t Say Nothin’’ Is A Diss Track Aimed At Ex Quavo: He Got Mad & Told My Business To The Blogs
Grammy-nominated “ICY GRL,” Saweetie, is making waves after dropping a new EP today (Nov.18).
The rap artist born Diamonté Harper dropped a new EP titled ‘The Single Life,’ a six-song project, where she’s candid about her life as a single woman. The lead song “Don’t Say Nothin'” caused a stir among fans on Twitter as they speculate the track to be a diss aimed at Saweetie’s ex-boyfriend Quavo. During the first verse, Saweetie raps,
“Why n*ggas always speakin’ on who I’m f*ckin’ on?
He must’ve got excited when I FaceTimed with nothin’ on
Them same lips that’s yappin’ be the ones I n*tted on”
She then seemingly addresses rumors Quavo was mad because Lil Baby allegedly took her on a 100k shopping spree last year by rapping,
“A hunnid K, please, know how much paper I be touchin’ on?
That’s light, better check my net worth
Post a pic in his sweatshirt, I bet it have my ex hurt”
The song continues,
“That’s what I get for kissin’ on these frogs
He got mad and told my business to the blogs
N*gga, pause, I’m appalled, need to chill out
Yeah, I pull up, then I b*st, then I peel out
Said he was a boss but he talkin’ like a groupie
I knew he wasn’t ready for this pretty b*tch c**chie”
As previously reported, Saweetie and Quavo, one-third of the Migos rap group, dated for three years before their shocking split in March of 2021. Fans suspect that Quavo took shots at his ex on his latest duo album with the late Takeoff titled “Unc & Phew.” During the song “Messy” Quavo, born Quavious Marshall, raps
“B*tch f*cked my dawg behind my back, but I ain’t stressin’ (Not at all)/You wanted the gang, you shoulda just said it, we would have blessed it (You shoulda just said it)/Now sh*t got messy (Uh).”
Despite seemingly dissing her first, some music listeners feel that Saweetie’s response came at the wrong time. Mainly because Quavo appears to still be grieving the loss of his nephew/group member Takeoff, who was fatally shot in Houston on Nov. 1. However, others seem to be supporting the song, claiming Saweetie “has a right” to talk about their breakup drama too.
Through all the rumors, it’s important to note that the California native may always have love for Quavo. During her previous appearance on Yung Miami’s podcast “Caresha Please,” Saweetie talked about her ex-boyfriend’s alleged infidelity, stating
“You know I think the past is just the past and I moved on since then.”
The “Tap In” rapper continued:
“I think we had a lot of like growing pains together.”
She added:
“I thought we was gon’ spend, you know, the rest of our lives together. With him, I just knew it was the one. It was different.”
She admitted:
“I was just hella enthralled with just who he was as a human. Like even if he wasn’t a rapper, like I woulda still like, been in love with him. It was one of them type of things. Like if he was a lil’ mailbox man and I came across you, like I would’ve still wanted your *ss.”
