Megan Thee Stallion Takes The Stand In Tory Lanez Trial, Confirms Argument w/ Singer Took Place Before Alleged Shooting Occurred

Megan Thee Stallion has approached the stand in court to detail the night she was allegedly assaulted by Tory Lanez.

According to reporter James Queally with the LA Times, rap star Megan Thee Stallion took the stand Tuesday morning (December 13) and delivered a seemingly moving testimony to the jury.

The Houston native reportedly arrived at a downtown Los Angeles courtroom around 11:15 a.m. to testify in the trial of rapper Tory Lanez, whom she has accused of shooting her feet more than two years ago. Real name Megan Pete, Megan Thee Stallion became emotional immediately after taking the stand.

While providing live updates via Twitter, James Queally shared,

“Megan was emotional as soon as she took the stand, describing Lanez as someone she ‘used to’ be friends with before telling a prosecutor she didn’t ‘feel good … I can’t believe I have to come up here and do this.’”

Megan, 27, proceeded to explain what led up to an argument that took place before the alleged shooting.

“MTS says the argument in the SUV started because she wanted to leave the party at Kylie Jenner’s house and Lanez didn’t. He ‘had an attitude’ and when they got in the car he told MTS ‘you need to stop lying to your friend’ referring to Kelsey Harris.”

At that point, Megan said she wanted to exit the vehicle but seemingly hesitated because she had on swimwear after leaving a pool party. However, she eventually exited the car. She then said that’s when the Canadian rapper began shooting. James Queally continued,

“Eventually he lets her out of the car and MTS decribes the shooting as it has been in court and interviews before: Lanez yells ‘dance, b*tch!’ and fires 5 times, she says. ‘I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off. I can’t believe he’s shooting at me.’”

According to Queally, Tory’s defense attorney George Mgdesyan has repeatedly argued no one else will testify Tory (or anyone) yelled the phrase “dance, b*tch!”

Megan proceeded to detail the shooting, stating that everyone present was stunned after the gunfire went off.

“MTS says the gunfire floored everyone: ‘[Lanez] looked shocked. Kelsey looked shocked. JaQuan [the driver/Lanez security] looked shocked.’”

While speaking on the nature of her argument with Tory, real name Daystar Peterson, Megan shared that low blows were thrown between the two, which escalated the argument.

“MTS confirms that while the argument started about their romantic situation, it quickly escalted to a fight about their careers. Lanez apparently told MTS she ‘ain’t sh*t’ and MTS responded by insulting his stature in industry. She said that really set him off.”

Megan then gave insight as to why she didn’t initially report the shooting.

“Asked why she didn’t report shooting to LAPD during the vehicle stop: ‘At this time we are at the height of police brutality… I felt if I said this man had shot me, they might shoot first and ask questions later. I don’t feel safe in the car. I don’t feel safe with the police.’”

“She adds: ‘First of all in the Black community, in my community, it’s not really acceptable to be cooperating with police officers.’”

In regards to the lack of support from the rap community, Megan also feared reporting Tory could hurt her career. She said,

“This whole situation in the industry is like a big boy’s club. Like I’m telling on one of y’all friends, now you’re all about to hate me.”

As you may recall, Tory, 30 is accused of shooting Megan while they were together in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood at about 4:30 a.m. on July 12, 2020. He was initially charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon and carrying a loaded, unregistered weapon inside a moving vehicle.

Tory has since been hit with a third felony charge in connection to the shooting for allegedly using a firearm negligently.
