Jeannie Mai Reveals She Has ADHD & Didn’t Graduate High School [VIDEO]
Television personality Jeannie Mai is opening up about having a condition known as ADHD.
In a new vlog, Jeannie Mai, 43, got candid and shared some of her childhood experiences she had while battling ADHD, which stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. The disorder can reportedly include attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.
During the video, the mother-of-one seemingly revealed that as a result of her condition, she was unable to graduate high school. According to reports, ADHD often begins in childhood into adulthood and may contribute to difficulty at school or work. However, Jeannie Mai shared that she used her condition to her advantage to propel her to the talk show host that she is today.
The Emmy Award-winning host/producer began with,
“Now that I know what ADHD is, I go back to the parts of my childhood where I felt so ashamed about things and I’m like, ‘oh, I’m okay like, this is what I had I just didn’t know it yet.”
“In elementary school I got amazing grades. Middle school I got okay grades. High school it got really, really bad. The crazy thing people don’t know is I didn’t graduate high school.”
Jeannie went on,
“There’s no accident why I became a talk show host. My very first job was criticizing people on How Do I Look? What I see is what you’re gonna hear. That has put me in a career where I am hosting makeover shows, I’m on the red carpet talking to celebrities, talk show called The Real.”
“So, thankfully leaning into the impulsivity instead of like shying away from it and being ashamed of it has helped me to find a career where I thrive.”
