Kenya Moore Says She’s ‘Come A Long Way’ After Abandonment By Mom Who ‘Pretended That She Never Had A Child’
Kenya Moore is opening up about the difficulties she faced as a child and how those tough times have shaped her into the mother she is today.
During a recent episode of Fox’s competition series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Kenya Moore spoke about the issues she’s had with her biological mother and the way she was raised. The ‘RHOA’ star said:
“I wasn’t raised by my mom. I had teenage parents. My mom didn’t want to have me, so my grandmother asked if she could have me. After that, my mother kind of pretended that she never had a child. It just got worse and worse. I was just angry.”
Kenya Moore then reflected on her daughter Brooklyn and how she tries to be the best mom possible, despite her rocky upbringing.
“I think I’ve come a long way from where I used to be. My daughter — she’s 3, and she’s just the world to me. I had her very late in life, but I wanted to be the type of mom to my daughter that I never had.”
Kenya Moore gave birth to baby Brooklyn in November 2018 at age 47. She shares Brooklyn with ex-Marc Daly. The two have been involved in an ongoing divorce battle that’s reportedly lasted longer than they were even together.
While speaking to paparazzi recently, the businesswoman dished on why her divorce from estranged husband Marc Daly is still ongoing, nearly two years after they filed. After the interviewer questioned Moore’s previous statement that she’s going through “the longest divorce ever,” the entertainer stated:
“No prenup! No prenup, unfortunately.”
She added,
“I feel confident that it’ll get resolved soon.”
As we previously reported, Moore officially filed for divorce from Daly back in May of 2021 after two years of marriage. The pair began to struggle shortly after saying “I do” and separated in 2019. After briefly rekindling things in early 2020, the two once again called it quits a few months later.
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
