Diddy Says ‘Media Is The Most Powerful Industry In The World’ While Explaining His Interest In Purchasing Majority Stake In BET: ‘This is not about me it’s about WE!!!!!’

Brother Love is making his reasoning behind pursuing a major TV network perfectly clear.

Music exec Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs says his interest in buying BET extends well beyond himself and is an important step in positively impacting the Black culture.

As we previously reported, the hip-hop icon has been circulating headlines while campaigning for a potential buyout of the BET network. Reportedly, BET Media Group, which includes BET, BET+, VH1 as well as BET’s production arm, BET Studios, could possibly be up for sale soon.

While media moguls Tyler Perry and Byron Allen have been reported as interested parties in the sale, their fellow entertainment entrepreneur Diddy is making it known exactly where he stands in the race. The “Gotta Move On” artist recently shared his own personal reasons for wanting to claim the company to his social media platforms, writing:

“Media is the most powerful industry in the world but it’s the industry where we have the least amount of ownership, influence and control!”

He continued:

“It’s time for @BETto be Black-owned again so we have the power to tell our own stories, control our own narrative! This is not about me it’s about WE!!!!”

Diddy also specified that he has no interest in purchasing the platform outright on his own. The Bad Boys Records founder shared a video clip explaining how he plans to put a team of influential Black leaders together in order to secure the platform collectively, writing as a caption to the post:

“I’m building a team of leaders in the culture to pursue ownership in @BETtogether! We have to unify our power and resources to create real change! #THETIMEISNOW”

Reportedly, Paramount has not definitely stated that they plan to sell the network just yet. Should the time come sooner rather than later, however, looks like there will be plenty of able candidates ready to put the dollar down!

What do you think about Diddy’s approach? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
