TikTok star Britney Joy, 35, and her mother Sherie Smith, 60, died in a car crash while on their way to a Juneteenth celebration in Texas.

According to reports, Britney Joy had just left her sister Tiffany Smith Cofield’s home with their mother moments before the horrific crash occurred.

Cofield told reporters,

“It looked like her car and everybody, when I was walking up, said a mom and daughter died and I knew they had left and knew the only mom and daughter would be my mom and sister.”

She continued,

“There will never be a time when I won’t miss my mother and my sister. They were my best friends. They were everything.”

According to Houston Police, the social media personality was behind the wheel when a truck hit her vehicle. An investigation is still ongoing.

Britney Joy, also known as Britney Murphy, was known for posting comedy skits and vlogs on TikTok. The morning of her death, Britney shared a video with her 400K TikTok followers about the Juneteenth holiday.

She captioned the video,

‘POV: You forgot it’s Juneteenth – No work today!’

In the clip, Britney is seen getting out of bed and leaving the house for work but later realizes she has the day off.

Britney’s sister Tiffany has started a GoFundMe account to help raise funds to cover funeral expenses for the influencer and her mother. So far, the fundraiser has garnered over $78K out of its $100K goal.

Tiffany wrote,

“My mom and sister were tragically taken away from us way too soon in an accident involving a reckless driver in Houston. This was just as my sister, beloved TikToker Britney Joy, began rising up in fame for her 9-5 videos that hit the internet by storm. Everyone related to her stories and those of her characters.”

She continued,

“Unfortunately, we were not adequately prepared to have to lay both my sister and mother to rest at the same time. This happened so suddenly and was truly something I could have never imagine losing my best friends.”
