Exclusive: Mary J. Blige Biopic Reportedly In The Works
Are you ready to take an inside look into the life of Mary J. Blige?
theJasmineBrand exclusively reports that a biopic surrounding the 9-time Grammy Award winner is reportedly in the works!
This may come as no surprise to some as Mary J. Blige gave a glimpse into her personal world last November with the release of her children’s book “Mary Can!” The novel is “an inspirational and motivating story about a young girl who proves that anyone can make their dreams come true,” according to the singer. In an Instagram post about the book, Mary J. Blige also shared it’s based on her “own experiences as a child and even as an adult.”

Now that she’s tackled being a children’s author it seems that Mary is ready to dive further into her personal story and share her journey with an adult audience. Insiders close to her latest project have shared with us that Mary is allegedly working with BET+ to bring her biopic to a screen near you. At this time, an official release date has yet to be revealed.

Mary has really been in her production bag lately. In March news broke that she executive produced two new original Lifetime movies inspired by two of her biggest hits — “Real Love” and “Strength of a Woman.” The films both premiered on June 10.
For her own biopic, it’s currently unclear if Mary J. Blige will only be involved with the project from behind the camera. However, she definitely has the acting skills needed to portray herself or make an on-screen cameo if desired. The 52-year-old entertainer has many acting credits under her belt, including notable roles in “The Umbrella Academy,” “Power Book II: Ghost,” and “How To Get Away With Murder.”
