Drake Questions If World Is Homophobic After Receiving Criticism About His Painted Nails
Rap star Drake recently asked an interesting question about the world.
Shortly after sharing a few pictures of himself rocking a fresh set of hot pink colored nails, the Canadian musician wondered if homophobia is the reason why people seem to have a problem with his latest fashion style.

The commotion began after Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, 36, shared to his Instagram stories a picture and video of himself after seemingly being serviced at a nail salon. In one image, the “God’s Plan” artist gave a hard smile while hugging his nail tech. Another photo shows a close-up of Drake’s hands, which debuted what looks to be pink hearts painted on his fingernails.

A video from the moment showed the Grammy Award winner dancing in the mirror, subsequently flaunting the pink design and his assumably costly watch. Reportedly, Drake went and got his nails done before kicking off his “It’s All a Blur Tour” with 21 Savage, which began this past Wednesday (July 5th) in Chicago. However, it wasn’t long before social media users weighed in with their thoughts about his new look.

Some users seem to feel as though painted fingernails don’t match the manly persona Drake portrays in his music. One user joked:
“I guess Drake is in his ‘soft era'”

While another added:
“Very sus like bruh”

Others came to the musician’s defense. One user noted that painted nails are supposedly a popular fashion staple for men in Europe. Another claimed that painted nails were once used to distinguish royal families.

While the validity of that statement is still up in the air, Drake did take a moment to address the conversation around his nails for himself. After fellow rapper Lil Yachty made a comment about his assumably pricey earrings, Drake responded:
“GET OUT MY COMMENTS YOU TOLD ME TO PAINT MY NAILS SO I STOP BITING THEM AND NOW THE WORLD IS BEING HOMOPHOBIC FOR THE 1st TIME SINCE ‘RICH FLEX…which wasn’t that long ago now that I think about it…wait is the world homophobic? Smh.”

To which Lil Yachty, real name Miles Parks McCollum, 25, added:
“woo-sah brother, your [sic] not supposed to have these episodes in public, it’s fine. They just don’t get u bro #UDIFFERENTAF”

In case you’re unfamiliar, Drake’s reference to his hit “Rich Flex” featuring 21 Savage, is meant to highlight the uproar about his line “21, can you do something for me?” Many online had a field day with the verse, creating memes and debating what the “something” is that Drake wanted his fellow rapper to do. It was a running joke that the verse seemed a little “sus” in the eyes of listeners, and some began to seriously and un-seriously question the rapper’s sexuality.
@damewemadeit Can you do sun fa me 21?? #foryou #damewemadeit #music #skit #funny #drake #21savage
It’s unclear if Drake’s comments about his nails were serious or not, but by Lil Yachty’s response, we at least know the famed rapper can count on support from his inner circle!
