Peter Thomas Says He Collected 15% Of Ex-Wife Cynthia Bailey’s “RHOA” Check Because Being On The Show “Took Time Away” From His Business
One thing about Peter Thomas, he’s going to make his money!
The former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star revealed recently that despite not being paid directly from the show, he and his ex-wife Cynthia Bailey had an agreement to make sure his time was covered financially.
Peter Thomas, 62, spoke with former Real Housewives producer Carlos King recently and shared that he used to collect a portion of his wife’s earnings to keep up with his own business ventures. He explained:
“I used to take 15%. Whenever the check comes in I would take 15% cause I had to keep my sh*t up also,”
so not only was Cynthia Bailey using her RHOA checks to cover ALL their household bills but she was also giving Peter Thomas 15% of her check since husbands of housewives don’t get paid???!!!! that man is a SWINDLER!! pic.twitter.com/BD1d1DOPsL

He continued:
“And the time that I was giving to you guys was actually taking away time from my business. So our agreement was that I would take 15% after we we pay all our household bills.”
The “we” Thomas‘ was referring to of course being his marriage to former “RHOA” star Cynthia Bailey, 56. In case you’re unfamiliar, the pair wedded back in 2010 and remained together for seven years before calling it quits. Bailey also joined the cast of the Bravo series during season 3 that same year, with her storyline heavily focused on her relationship with Thomas and friendship with then close friend Nene Leakes. As we’ve previously covered, Bailey and Leakes no longer consider themselves as close as the once were, however, after falling out while filming the hit show.
At beginning of their TV start, Thomas was known as a rising club owner. The entrepreneur furthered his portfolio throughout his time on the series, and today operates a successful Miami restaurant called Bar One and is reportedly pursing other business ventures as well. However, Thomas also routinely finds himself in the midst of financial angst and persecution. Upon getting their divorce, Bailey sued her ex-husband for an unpaid loan amount he reportedly was neglecting to fork over. Additionally, back in 2019 Thomas was arrested for check fraud, though vehemently denying any wrong doing, and has subsequently been accused by several other parties of owing hundreds of thousands worth of debt.
Most recently, the restaurant owner was reportedly being sued and evicted for over $400,000 in back rent payment on his Miami eatery. However, he recently stated that he’s worked out a deal with his land lord to cover the debt owed. Seeing as though he’s no longer getting his “RHOA” stipend, Thomas‘ financial woes following his separation from Bailey tend to become a lot more clear. It seems Thomas went on in the interview to share that after the two split, he left “$5 million on the table”. Which, arguably, is quite the lifestyle adjustment that has to be made.
Upon learning of his agreement with Bailey, users exchanged thoughts about whether or not the Bravo star was “swindled” by her then lover. Some seem to give Thomas no grace when it comes to the conversation of money, assuming he’s always just looking for a way to stay head. While others seemed to understand and agree with his point of getting paid as the time does in fact take away time spent from his business.
