Lizzo’s Former Doc Director Doubles Down On Claims The Singer Is ‘Unkind’ & ‘Arrogant’: ‘She Is A Narcissistic Bully & Has Built Her Brand Off Of Lies’
Lizzo is definitely in the hot seat and it doesn’t look like things will be cooling down anytime soon!
As previously reported, yesterday (Aug. 1) Lizzo was hit with bombshell allegations in a lawsuit accusing of her creating a hostile work environment, sexual harassment, and body shaming. The three professional dancers — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez — who previously worked with the four-time Grammy-Award winner also named her dance captain Shirlene Quigley and production company as defendants in the suit. Since then, more people who once worked with Lizzo have stepped forward to call her out for being problematic.

Last night Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison revealed how unpleasant and traumatizing her time working with Lizzo truly was. In 2019, Sophia was brought on to Lizzo’s team to direct the singer’s documentary. However, Sophia’s involvement with the project was cut short due to the alleged ill-treatment she received. In a statement shared on Instagram, the creative wrote,
“I usually do not comment on anything pop culture related. But, In 2019, I traveled a bit with Lizzo to be the director of her documentary. I walked away after about 2 weeks. I was treated with such disrespect by her.”
According to Sophia, she witnessed firsthand just how “arrogant, self-centered, and unkind” Lizzo is behind the scenes. She continued and said that instead of being “protected” she was “thrown into a sh*tty situation with little support.”

Today (Aug. 2) Sophia returned to the picture-sharing app and stood firm on her claims about Lizzo. In a new post, she wrote,
“to be clear. Since l’ve spoken out, I’ve had others privately share their very similar experiences, and I have also been affirmed by people who witnessed what I went through.
Lizzo creates an extremely toxic and hostile working environment and undermines the work, labor, and authority of other black and brown womxn in the process.”
The statement continued,
“(Notice how the documentary ended up being directed by a cis white man.) She is a narcissistic bully and has built her brand off of lies. I was excited to support and protect a Black woman through the documentary process but quickly learned her image and “message” was a curated facade. I stand with the dancers and anyone who has had similar experiences working with her and her team. These working conditions are not ok.”

Lizzo has yet to publically address the allegations she’s facing.
