Issa Rae’s Series ‘Rap Sh!t’ Season 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Hollywood Strike
Another popular TV series has been pushed back due to the ongoing writers/actors’ strike.
Earlier today (Aug. 3) it was announced that actress/creator Issa Rae’s hit comedy “Rap Sh!t” season 2 will no longer premiere this month.

A post announcing the news from the show’s official Instagram page stated:
“The tour is making a few more stops before it gets to your screens on November 9, y’all. We love this show and its actors and creators do too.
We want everyone to be able to celebrate the new season together so we’ll be bringing season 2 to you November 9 with the hope that the strikes will be resolved by then.
We know y’all were ready for us sooner but we promise it’s gonna be worth the wait. Stay tuned”

According to reports, the Max TV show was set to debut its second season on August 10th. However, due to the continued strike of writers and actors in Hollywood, the date has since been moved to November 9th. Reportedly, the decision to delay the show is in hopes that the strike will be resolved by then so that the cast and crew can adequately promote/celebrate the continuation of the popular series.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the show, “Rap Sh!t” follows the lives of two estranged high-school besties who reconnect in adulthood and set out to start a music career together. The show stars Aida Osman as Shawnna and Kamillion, real name Alja Jackson, as Mia.
It also features a slew of popular social media personalities such as Jonica Booth from “Bad Girls Club” and “Wild N’ Out” comedian Pretty Vee.
Many have likened the series to the lives of City Girls rappers JT and Yung Miami, as the aspiring (fictional) artists on the show are Miami-based rappers and loosely resemble the lives of the two musicians. The mainstream rap duo, real names Jatavia Johnson and Caresha Brownlee respectively, were even brought on to the series as co-executive producers.

At the end of the first season — which premiered in July of last year and wrapped in September — fans were left on a cliffhanger as Osman’s character, who had been participating in credit card fraud was seemingly caught by police. The situation appears to mimic the real-life case of JT who spent more than a year in federal prison due to fraud charges. However, it seems the viewing audience will have to wait a little longer to discover if the fictional rapper will face a similar fate.

At this time, none of the show’s stars have reacted to the news of the delayed second season, which will reportedly drop two episodes when it premieres. However, fans were sure to express their feelings online. Many were disappointed to hear the news, while others gave their support and understanding of the bigger cause.
