Lil Nas X’s Documentary Premiere Delayed Due To Bomb Threat
Lil Nas X’s documentary premiere almost didn’t happen due to a very scary threat.
The premiere of Lil Nas X’s new documentary, which took place at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), experienced a delay due to a bomb threat that was called in. Lil Nas X, born Montero Hill, was scheduled to debut his film “Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero” at the festival on Saturday (Sept. 9). However, things kicked off approximately 20 minutes late because the venue had to be checked following the terrifying threat.
Reportedly, Lil Nas X was kept away from the area as authorities made sure everything was secure. Vice president of public affairs and communications for TIFF, Judy Lung, spoke on the incident with another publication and said:
“Our standard security measures remained in place during this time and the screening commenced with a slight delay.”
Thankfully, after Toronto police investigated Roy Thomson Hall it was determined that the area was secure, and the bomb threat wasn’t credible. While the false warning was reported during the time of Lil Nas X’s arrival, Lung’s statement also noted:
“To our knowledge, this was a general threat and not directed at the film or the artist.”
Following the green light to proceed, the “Old Town Road” rapper hit the red carpet with his loved ones. The film, which documents the 24-year-old’s eight-month tour for his full-length debut album “Montero,” was made by Carlos López Estrada and Zac Manuel.
The film festival’s website says that the documentary is expected to offer:
“a joyous immersion in the world of a game-changing artist and the fans who’ve joined him in that change.”
Lil Nas X has not addressed the bomb incident, but he did share a post to Instagram of himself at the event. He captioned the upload “Long Live.”
