Megan Thee Stallion Opens Up About ‘Fresh’ New Chapter, Says She Finally Loves Herself + Reveals Fans Can Expect New Music Soon
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion seems to be in a really great place!
During a recent interview, the 28-year-old glowed while discussing overcoming hardships, attending the VMAs, and fearlessly stepping into her next phase of life.
Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, also reflected on the ups and downs she’s experienced recently and how they’ve shaped her “new” attitude. The “Thot Sh*T” artist started off the interview by gushing about the fun she had performing with Cardi B at the VMAs last week as well as her iconic meet-up with Justin Timberlake. As previously reported, the internet nearly went into a frenzy when many suspected the pop star offended Megan backstage during the show. However, the Houston native later cleared the situation up, sharing a video of the two with nothing but smiles.
Getting into a deeper conversation, Megan went on to share that she feels she’s in a much better space than she had previously been. For quite some time, the musician was on a music and internet hiatus as she grappled with the trauma and aftermath of being shot by her former friend back in 2020. In case you’re unfamiliar, rapper Tory Lanez was convicted on 3 felony charges earlier this year in relation to the aforementioned shooting. The Canada native was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and is reportedly planning his second attempt to appeal the lengthy incarceration stay.
Speaking on where her mentality is now and how she managed through the ordeal, Megan stated:
“I feel like I’m in such a fresh space, like everything about me is new. My attitude, my vibe. I feel like I’m starting a new chapter in my life.”
And continued:
“I think I’ve just gone through so much and I’m at a point where I don’t care about a lot of stuff. I’m just so comfortable with myself. I’m like, ‘OK, at this point, girl, what’s the worst thing that can happen?’ I’m just into taking risks right now.”
Despite previously blasting those who criticized her intentions during Lanez’s trial, Megan shared that the situation taught her she wasn’t as confident in certain regards as she thought. She continued:
“I always like to think of myself as a confident person, I always [seemed] that I didn’t care about much, I was nonchalant, but it took me to go through things where so many people were talking about me constantly, to where I had to realize, ‘OK, maybe you’re not as nonchalant and carefree as you thought you were. So, I had to take a step back, reevaluate myself. I had to get in a comfortable position with myself, and now I genuinely can say that I’m in love with Megan. I’m in love with Megan Thee Stallion.”
It looks like the Grammy Award winner has certainly taken time to refocus and is placing her energy into her artistry. Megan’s last album “Traumazine” debuted back in August 2022 right in the midst of the Lanez shooting trial. The project explored the rapper grappling with the loss of her mother and grandmother, as well as the public ridicule she faced after being assaulted. Following its release, Megan stated she wouldn’t put out any more music until she was in a better space, and it seems that time has finally come.
The rap star went on to state that she’s removed social media from her phone to zone in on making the music she wants to. Additionally, Megan said her fans, dubbed the “hotties,” can expect new music soon:
“I don’t have any inspiration from anybody out right now [because] I feel like as an artist, you see other artists doing things and it’s like, ‘Oh my god, I got to keep up…’I have no clue what anybody’s doing, so the music that I been making, it feels good to me,”
Adding elsewhere in the interview, she hinted when fans can expect her next project:
“I like to surprise the Hotties, so I’m not gonna say how soon, but just be expecting it…Everybody knows spooky season is my favorite season, so just be on point.”
