Jeannie Mai Hires NeNe Leakes’ Powerhouse Divorce Lawyer Following Jeezy’s Motion For Joint Custody Amid Their Separation
Looks like Jeannie Mai isn’t playing about her forthcoming custody battle.
According to a report from Radar Online, the TV personality has secured a top-notch attorney to represent her following Jeezy’s demand for joint custody of their daughter amid their divorce.

Reportedly, her new lawyer, Randall Kessler, has represented a slew of Atlanta-based celebrities in their divorces and custody battles. The legal professional’s clientele reportedly includes the likes of “RHOA” alums Nene Leakes and Porsha Williams (in their divorces from Gregg Leakes and Kordell Stewart respectively), Christian Milian (in her custody battle against ex The Dream), as well as comedian Mike Epps, who hired Kessler to help dispute a paternity suit.

Additionally, Kessler was reportedly tapped for a number of high-profile lawsuits, though on the opposing side, that included famed names such as T.I., Michael Jordan, and Ludacris. Jeannie Mai’s move to bring on Kessler comes more than a month after being served divorce papers from estranged husband Jeezy. As we’ve been covering, the rapper – real name Jay Wayne Jenkins, allegedly blindsided his wife of two years by asking for a divorce, citing in his legal paperwork that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
Jeezy also reportedly requested joint legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter Monaco, seemingly prompting Jeannie to secure an A-list legal team.

Sources close to the couple have said that a number of discrepancies the two had about marriage and raising their daughter ultimately ended the relationship. While neither entertainer has specifically addressed what caused the split, both Jeannie and Jeezy have spoken publicly about the divorce. Releasing a statement to the press, the “Put On” rapper stated:
“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
Jeannie for her part stated in a subsequent interview:
“I’m taking it day by day…I’m just focusing on Monaco and focusing on things that I’m passionate about. When you’re surrounded by people, you just get to laugh and look at things that you enjoy doing in life.”
At this time it’s unclear if Jeannie means to fight Jeezy’s request for joint custody, or if Kessler’s hire was just a precaution. Neither have spoken publicly about the terms of their divorce. Though it has been reported that the two had an “air-tight” prenup before saying I do.
